Relaxation: Learning to Breathe Deeply

Begin to relax more deeply by taking 3 deep, slow breaths. As you inhale, let that “in” breath be associated with fresh air, peacefulness and relaxation. As you exhale, let that “out” breath be associated with the release of any unnecessary stress and tension.

Often referred to as "balloon breathing", you can place one of your hands on your diaphram and the other on your chest. Feel your hands rise as you fill your diaphram first and then your lungs, causing your chest to expand.

It's like you are filling a balloon that inflates your diaphram and lungs with comforting, warm oxygen that helps you calm down and release stress.
